Comment
This festival is held at Wajimazaki Shrine on January 10 and November 20. It is believed that the deity Ebisu goes out to sea in January and returns in November, and the festivals are held to pray for a good catch in January and to give thanks for safe fishing in November. Twelve parishioners of the shrine walk around wearing hakama and taking turns to hold an image of Ebisu, playing the drums and crying out, “Here comes the deity Ebisu!” They visit fishing towns such as Wajimazaki-machi and Ama-machi, setting out from the mountains and walking towards the sea in January, and setting out from the sea and walking towards the mountains in November.
