Yobare is the custom of inviting relatives, friends and neighbors to one’s home and treating them to good food and drink on festival days. The custom was named yobare since “yobareru” means to be invited to festivals in this region. On festival days, the front doors and windows of houses are kept open so that anyone can enter. People enjoy watching kiriko parades while eating homemade dishes.
