Comment
There are vast vineyards in Asahigaoka and Yamanaka, parts of Anamizu Town. Grapes for Noto wine are produced here. Yama Sauvignon, Muscat Berry A and Merlot are cultivated for red wine, and Chardonnay and Seibel for white wine. The vines are grown in the red earth using powdered oyster shell from Anamizu Gulf as fertilizer, and the grapes have a rich taste that cannot be found elsewhere. Production started in 2000, and now six farms are growing grapes across an area of 25 hectares, harvesting 130 tons of grapes annually. The view of hedges covered with lush green leaves is a new landscape of Noto. Grapes are harvested in September and October, and the autumn leaves can be enjoyed in November.
