Two waterfalls side by side with a drop of 35m converge into one, looking like a married couple. That is why it is called “Nametaki” (male-female-waterfall). From the main fall on the right, water drops down into a pothole, where it overflows and drops into another pothole below. This is repeated five times. Because of its elegant appearance, both dynamic and calm, the waterfall was named “Medaki” (female waterfall). From the subsidiary fall on the left, water falls down through eight potholes, which remind people of a male knotty hand. That is why it is named “Odaki” (male waterfall).
